AH Exp – Electrical Phenomena 07 – Current and frequency in an inductive circuit

Aim – To investigate the relationship between the current in an inductive circuit and the frequency of the supply.

Instructions

▪ Switch on the signal generator.
▪ Note the current in the circuit.

Clicking on the right of the dial on the signal generator increases the frequency.
Clicking on the left decreases the frequency.

▪ Vary the supply frequency and record readings of current and frequency, using a range of 100 Hz to 1000 Hz
▪ Monitor the trace on the oscilloscope and ensure that the supply voltage remains constant.
▪ Plot a graph to show the relationship between the current in an inductive circuit and the frequency of the supply.
