AH Exp – Mechanics 03A – Measurement of angular acceleration
Aim – To measure the angular acceleration of a rotating turntable
Instructions
The rubber stopper is being rotated with an angular velocity so that the paper clip is just touching the bottom of the glass tube.
▪ Use a stop clock to measure the period of rotation of the rubber stopper.
▪ Determine the angular velocity of the rubber stopper.
▪ Click on the button to change the hanging mass. The mass changes after the rubber stopper completes a revolution.
The central force is the same as the weight of the hanging mass.
▪ Draw a graph to show the relationship between the central force and the angular velocity.
