AH Exp – Wave Phenomena 01 – Stationary waves

Aim – To determine the wavelength of microwaves using a stationary wave pattern.

Instructions

This activity requires your computer to have a sound card and speakers connected.
The probe is positioned on a maximum intensity.

▪ Note the position of the probe.
▪ Click on the arrow to move the probe towards the reflector.
▪ Count the maxima as the probe moves.
▪ Measure the distance from the first to the last maxima.
▪ Determine the wavelength of the microwaves. (remember the distance between maxima is equal to half a wavelength)
