H Exp – Electricity and Electronics 19 – Square wave generator

Aim – To investigate how the Op-Amp can be used to produce square waves.

Instructions

▪ Connect the oscilloscope across the inputs A B
▪ Adjust the signal generator voltage and the oscilloscope time base to obtain a suitable trace.

The settings are reduced by clicking on the left of the dial and increased by clicking on the right of the dial.

▪ Accurately sketch the pattern produced
▪ Now connect the oscilloscope across the output C D
▪ Without adjusting any of the controls sketch the pattern produced.
▪ State how the phase of the output V₀ compares with the input V₁
▪ Compare the frequency of the output V₀ to the input V₁.
▪ State the gain of the amplifier in this circuit
▪ Hence state the minimum value of V that will produce a saturated output potential V₀.
▪ As the input potential from the signal generator V₁ is increased, explain what happens to the output potential V₀ .
