H Exp – Mechanics 02A – Measurement of Acceleration

Aim – To measure the acceleration of a trolley moving down a slope

Instructions

▪ Use the rule to measure the width (d) of each part of the mask
▪ Enter the value for d in the box (d should be in metres)
▪ When the trolley passes the second light beam stop Timer 3
▪ Release the trolley from the top of the slope
▪ Note the value of the acceleration
▪ Repeat the experiment 5 times
▪ Calculate the acceleration and random uncertainty
