H Exp – Mechanics 11 – Momentum (Inelastic collisions)

Aim – To compare the total momentum before and after a collision

Instructions

▪ Note the masses of the two vehicles
▪ Push the left hand vehicle towards the right hand vehicle (click start)
▪ Note the velocity of the two vehicles before and after the collision
▪ Calculate the total momentum before and after the collision
▪ Repeat the experiment for different masses of vehicles
▪ Use an appropriate format to compare the total momentum before and after the collision
