H Exp – Mechanics 19A – Gas Laws

Aim – To investigate the relationship between the pressure and volume of a fixed mass of gas at a fixed temperature (Boyles Law apparatus)

Instructions

▪ Increase the pressure on the column of trapped air
▪ Note the length of the trapped air column and the corresponding pressure
▪ Reduce the pressure and note the new pressure and length
▪ Repeat for a range of values of length of trapped air column
▪ Use an appropriate format to show the relationship between the pressure and volume of a gas at constant temperature
