H Exp – Radiation and Matter 02 – Interference of sound

Aim – To investigate an interference pattern produced by two sources of sound.

Instructions – This experiment requires your computer to have a sound card and speakers installed.

Both loudspeakers are connected to the same output terminals of the signal generator and are approximately 2 m apart.

The frequency of the signal generator is set to 300 Hz.

▪ Start the boy walking and listen to the effect on the loudness of the sound heard.
▪ Confirm that the points of constructive interference occur where you would expect them to.
